Are you part of a community outside of Minnesota? Running an organization that has been part of creating Pagan culture? Perhaps in a tradition that would like to document its history? CAMP has four ways that we can work together to preserve the cultural heritage of the greater Pagan community across the country.
What we have to offer
Oral Histories
It is people who build community and make history. Their stories hold a wealth of knowledge to preserve for generations to come. CAMP has several options to help you record the oral histories of your community and make them available through our archive.
We have an oral historian on staff who can work with you to develop a project plan, conduct the interviews, and have them transcribed.
Our staff can train volunteers in the Minnesota Pagan Oral History Methodology and Template in order to conduct professional quality oral histories for yourself.
We can provide you with the materials for the Minnesota Pagan Oral History Methodology and Template to support you in conducting amateur oral history interviews.
Regardless of which option you select, your recordings and transcripts would be preserved in CAMP’s digital repository and made available through our website.
Archival Collections
People, covens, groves, churches, organizations etc. all make their own history and together we have built a community and culture with a legacy. Papers, pictures, video recording, writings, art, blogs, or anything else that we hold onto can be preserved to tell our story. CAMP’s archive is a digital repository that will maintain and make available this material to researchers and the public. In this way we can support the discipline of Pagan studies and create a real picture of our culture.
Depending on the amount of material you seek to preserve, CAMP has several ways to aid you.
The staff archivist can work with you to develop a plan to conduct an inventory, organize your materials into a collection, digitize, and then preserve them. For a regional community this can be expanded to a series of projects to include all the facets of your area’s history.
Our staff can train volunteers in the basics of creating archival records and digitization to preserve your material at a basic level ready to be added to the archive.
We can provide a guide on information collection and digitization to support you in preserving your materials on your own.
Regardless of which option you select, your materials would be preserved in CAMP’s digital repository and made available through our website.
Community Digitization
One way to get your community excited and engaged with the historic preservation process is to host a community digitization event. By having people come together with materials from their personal collections it creates a sense of investment in your project and gives you access to hidden gems you hadn’t known you were looking for. Whether we bring our portable digitization lab to you, or guide you through your own equipment needs, CAMP can provide the support you need to host a successful event.
Research
Historical and cultural research projects take skills and time that not everyone has. CAMP can provide the support and services to research significant people, events, or traditions of your community, and put them into cultural and historic context to tell their story. This research can then be used to create exhibits, teaching materials, publications, or anything else that would help to promote your community’s cultural heritage.
